A Year of Frost LC: Thank You
John F. Frost ·
Last June, I launched Frost LC A Law Corporation. In the year since, I haven’t announced it or marketed much. I just got to work on building a long-term foundation and delivering for clients.
A year later, I’m proud of the results:
- An incredible roster of clients, both individual and institutional
- A diverse practice, representing some clients as plaintiffs, some as defendants, some as corporate counsel, and many in the messy prelitigation phase of disputes where accusations are flying in both directions
- For some representations, reaching practical solutions tailored to my clients’ goals
- For other representations, advocating zealously in the biggest dispute that the client has ever faced
- On the plaintiff side, multiple seven-figure resolutions
- On the defense side, several favorable settlements
- On the corporate side, practical solutions and advice to help individuals and startups move forward
So, after a year of hard but quiet work, it was time to say something. And what I want to say is, “thank you.”
I want to thank my family and friends who have supported me through this journey.
I want to thank those at my former firm Lewis & Llewellyn LLP for their continued support and friendship. It’s one of the best litigation boutiques in California. I’m lucky to have worked with and learned from Marc Lewis, Paul Llewellyn, and many other former colleagues for almost eight years. And I’m grateful they were enthusiastic when I first told them I wanted to start my own firm.
I want to thank Judge Joseph C. Spero, who gave me an opportunity to work with him and his wonderful clerks for a year. I learned so much from them about practice—how to do it well, and how to do it with the highest degree of integrity.
I want to thank those at my earlier career stops, the California Department of Justice, the Superior Court of California, County of Kern, and my many clinics and externships while at the University of Minnesota Law School ranging from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Minnesota to the nonprofit Northside Residents Redevelopment Council (NRRC).
And I want to thank my friends at BakerHostetler for encouraging me to go to law school when I was a member of the LA Office staff.
Many of my career stops were incredible experiences. Others were tough life lessons. But all were formative, making me uniquely suited to launch this firm and deliver results for my clients.
Now, I focus on commercial litigation for people and companies in the tech ecosystem: founders, executives, investors, venture funds, startups, and publicly traded companies. I also provide fractional services for companies that need experienced litigation oversight or practical commercial advice and services without committing to a full-time in-house counsel.
If you’re in (or around) tech and you have a legal problem, how can I help?
